Our ONE-TO-ONE ENGLISH FOR EXAMINATIONS IMMERSION
COURSE will appeal to those who wish to improve their English for
examinations such as the respected Cambridge English examinations. These
exams are recognised by employers, colleges and universities all over
the world. The examinations, all of which test the four language skills
of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing, are available at five levels,
and can be taken at specific times during the year.
As with all our courses, your specific needs will be identified and prioritised
in the first lesson and the course will be designed to meet these needs.
Our one-to-one method allows for continuous monitoring of progress and
meeting evolving language needs so you can rest assured that your teacher
will be flexible to ensure your course is relevant to your needs.
Obviously your course will focus on those areas in which you need to improve
especially speaking and listening and of course good exam technique. In
addition vocabulary development, good understanding and implementation
of the rules of Grammar and Use of English, reading comprehension and
writing are covered. Adequate preparation for exams is essential and many
of our students benefit from excellent preparation for specific areas
such as speaking and listening which are difficult to practise without
the asssitance of a good teacher. You can decide with the advice of your
teacher on those specific areas you need to concentrate on.

The IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
examination is the most widely recognised qualification for entrance to
British, Irish, Australian, New Zealand and Canadian universities, as
well as other secondary education institutes and vocational and training
programmes. For university entrance, candidates need to take the Academic
Module; for certain other types of education and training, the General
Training Module may be more suitable. In both the Academic and General
Training Modules, the four skills tested are Listening, Speaking, Reading
and Writing. The Listening and Speaking tests are the same for both versions,
while there are differences in the Reading and Writing tests.
Information on all courses
Every course involves some work on pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary,
speaking, listening, reading and writing. In your language needs analysis
you will discuss the approximate amount of time you would like to spend
on the various language areas. Your teacher will of course give you professional
advice but your wishes are always respected and taken into account in
every course! Therefore the content and direction of your course is planned
with you and only you in mind.
Lessons for all courses are 60 minutes each with a 10 minute rest period
and take place in the morning and early afternoon depending on the number
of lessons you have booked. The exact schedule will be discussed and agreed
with your teacher on the first morning however it is usual to have the
majority, if not all, of the lessons completed in the morning. This schedule
will enable you to maximise your free time to explore the city and surrounding
area.
There will be a certain amount of homework assigned each day connected
to the language covered. This provides a chance for valuable practice
of what you have learned and allows your teacher to monitor your progress.
The amount of homework assigned is agreed with you and should take no
more than an hour or so to complete.
On the final day of your course there will be an opportunity for feedback
and your teacher will recommend a strategy for future study when you return
home. We invite you to keep in touch with us and your teacher as we are
interested in your progress and of course hope to see you back at some
time in the future
