Our ONE-TO-ONE GENERAL ENGLISH IMMERSION COURSE
+ GOLF will appeal to those who wish to improve their English in
everyday situations, using and mastering normal expressions and good use
of language with their own personal teacher while enjoying one-to-one
lessons including practice with a golf professional who is a member of
the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA). This course is suited to
those who want to improve their general English and in addition require
to spend time out enjoying one of their chosen sports. Language lessons
take place in the morning and there will be focus on developing fluency
and accuracy as appropriate to suit your requirements. Golf lessons are
normally scheduled for the afternoons at a nearby golf centre. Lessons
or practice if required are given by a golf professional - Jim Geraghty
- who can advise on all aspects of golf especially improved technique.
Rounds of golf can also be arranged if you do not require lessons. Clubs
can be hired and balls are provided. You should have suitable footwear.
Concerning language those specific areas such as
speaking practice and listening activities, good pronunciation, correct
use of grammar, vocabulary development including some directed reading
and writing will be covered to improve
your communication skills. Constant feedback and firm but diplomatic correction
of errors feature in all courses being essential for meaningful progress.
Your teacher will offer all the assistance and encouragement you need
to help you improve and achieve your goals for the course.
As with all our courses, your specific needs will be identified and prioritised
in the first lesson and the course will be designed to meet these needs.
Our one-to-one method allows for continuous monitoring of progress and
meeting evolving language needs so you can rest assured that your teacher
will be flexible to ensure your course is relevant to your needs. In additon
your golf pro will assess your needs and help you improve your golf so
that you benefit fully from your private tuition.
Note for courses with Golf
Lessons are one-to-one with your private golf professional. Rounds of
golf for up to 5 hours can be arranged if you do not want lessons. Please
supply your own golf shoes and suitable smart clothes for playing golf.
If you don't have your own clubs these can be rented however balls are
supplied. Schedule for golf may need to be altered to suit weather conditions.
Information on all courses
Every course involves some work on pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary,
speaking, listening, reading and writing. In your language needs analysis
you will discuss the approximate amount of time you would like to spend
on the various language areas. Your teacher will of course give you professional
advice but your wishes are always respected and taken into account in
every course! Therefore the content and direction of your course is planned
with you and only you in mind.
Lessons for all courses are 60 minutes each with a 10 minute rest period
and take place in the morning and early afternoon depending on the number
of lessons you have booked. The exact schedule will be discussed and agreed
with your teacher on the first morning however it is usual to have the
majority, if not all, of the lessons completed in the morning. This schedule
will enable you to maximise your free time to explore the city and surrounding
area.
There will be a certain amount of homework assigned each day connected
to the language covered. This provides a chance for valuable practice
of what you have learned and allows your teacher to monitor your progress.
The amount of homework assigned is agreed with you and should take no
more than an hour or so to complete.
On the final day of your course there will be an opportunity for feedback
and your teacher will recommend a strategy for future study when you return
home. We invite you to keep in touch with us and your teacher as we are
interested in your progress and of course hope to see you back at some
time in the future!
