General English courses

This course will appeal to those who wish to improve their English in everyday situations, using and mastering normal expressions and good use of language. This course is suited to those who want to improve their general English for normal purposes. There will be focus on developing fluency and accuracy as appropriate to suit your requirements. A total immersion is really the best way to make fast progress under the expert guidance of your tutor and host.

Key Skills: Speaking and Listening; Everyday Vocabulary; Pronunciation work; Grammar as appropriate, however, good communication is the objective.



General English courses

English for effective communication in a professional context with emphasis on confident and appropriate use of language, good pronunciation and dealing with social situations that arise in a professional setting. This course is designed to ensure that lessons are presented in a professional setting with specific reference and relevance to your profession or business. The course can be arranged for practically any professional purpose.

Key Skills: Depends on professional and business needs but includes: Speaking; Listening; Meetings; Presentations; Negotiations; Professional and Business vocabulary; Pronunciation; Writing for professional and business purposes (reports, e-mails etc.).



Legal English courses

This specialised course presents English for effective communication in a legal context with emphasis on confident and appropriate use of language, good pronunciation and dealing with clients, attorneys and the courts in a professional manner. Tutors are legally qualified professionals which ensures quality tuition.

Key Skills: Depends on individual needs but includes: Speaking; Listening; Presentations; Meetings; Negotiations; Legal Vocabulary; Pronunciation; Legal Writing including legal correspondence, explaining laws and procedures to clients using clear and understandable English, aspects of advocacy, drafting of legal documents, and other necessary skills identified.



English for Exams

Effective preparation for examinations such as IELTS, TOEFL and Cambridge (KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE). Practice of all skills tested for the relevant examination by tutors who are experienced in the examination being taken. Some of our tutors are existing or former examiners for the testing organisations and bring their knowledge and skill to our courses. We also offer an intensive option that allows for proper testing using relevant examination formats which provides valuable practice.

English for Exams

English for social situations, discussing topics of interest, exchanging ideas, and developing friendly relationships. This course is designed to allow for an equal mix of language production and enjoyment. Just because our participants are seniors, it does not follow that there cannot be clear objectives that are pursued in an enjoyable manner and at a pace that suits the participant. These courses are designed for the over 55s even if the title 'senior' does not strictly apply.

Key Skills: Speaking and Listening; Enhancing vocabulary, improving and maintaining conversation for good communication using language presented; Pronunciation and any other skills or language areas that need attention.



 Academic English

This course is suitable for those who need to develop their English in an academic context focusing on the very particular skills necessary to achieve this objective. EAP courses differ from other English courses in that the language presented and practised always has an academic connection and objective. The course focuses on those skills and language areas that require immediate attention with very specific and well identified objectives to achieve.

Key Skills: Depends on individual needs but includes: Speaking; Listening; Vocabulary; Pronunciation; Grammar; Reading and Writing in an academic setting and for academic purposes.



English for Specific Purposes

This course will appeal to those who wish to study for a specific objective, such as preparing for a job interview, writing a policy document, preparing an academic paper or to focus intensively on one or two language skills, for example academic writing and reading skills. This course is suitable for those with a specific purpose in mind which requires improvement in one or more of the language skills and is specialised on developing those skills with very specific objectives in mind at all times.

One to One English lessons

This course is offered for those who may be living and working in Ireland and do not require accommodation. We offer most courses listed on our website - General, Professional, Legal, Exams, English for Special Purposes, and English for Young People on this basis.
